A new school is set to open in Prosper, Texas next year. Called Rock Hill High School, it will be the second high school under the Prosper Independent School District (PISD).
The new school will accommodate the overflow of Prosper High School, which has 300 more students than its current capacity of 2,200.
According to Prosper ISD Superintendent Dr. Drew Watkins, this long overdue project will open in August 2020 and will cost around $150 million.
About the school
Rock Hill High School will occupy a 97-acre campus on Coit Road, just south of U.S. Route 380 and within the Frisco city limits.
The curriculum will be identical to that of Prosper High School, save for specialized programs related to Career and Technical Education (CTE). Additional subjects like social studies, engineering, and health science will also be included.
Once this school is up and running, both Prosper ISD high schools will continue to remain in the 5A University Interscholastic League classification.
Prosper ISD has also named the Blue Hawks as Rock Hill High School’s official mascot, which will sport the official school colors of blue and black. In line with Prosper High School’s aesthetic, the school will take on a modern, collegiate look designed by well-known architectural firm Huckabee and Associates.
